Gaya means "style". Not the kind you buy, though. The kind you carry.
This cloth spent close to two months on a hand loom in East Java, where the pattern was dyed into the yarn before weaving by hand, rather than printed on afterwards. It is the slowest way to make fabric and the only way to get a unique, one-of-a-kind pattern that cannot be repeated. It was then cut and hand-finished by a small family workshop in Bali.
This colourway is a black with silver caught in the weave, with beautiful detailing at the pockets. It is cut as a pair of relaxed tailored shorts, in 100% Javanese cotton that breathes in humidity, packs light, and softens with every wash. It is the layer that finishes an outfit you already own, or to perfectly complement the Gaya Kimono.
