Every length of this cloth spent close to two months on a hand loom in Central Java, where the pattern was dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards. It is the slowest way to make fabric, and the only way to get a pattern that cannot be repeated. It was then cut and hand-finished by a small family workshop in Bali.
This colourway is a dark blue that shifts with the light, the way hand-dyed yarn always does.
