Santai (Indonesian for "relax") is designed for moments of stillness. Hand-crafted from 100% hand-loomed Javanese cotton, this floor-length dress features a flattering back-tie and a silhouette that moves with you. Rich in earthy, rusty tones, it is a versatile piece for day or night.

Every length of this cloth spent close to two months on a hand loom in East Java, where the pattern was dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards. It is the slowest way to make fabric, and the only way to get a pattern that cannot be repeated. It was then cut and hand-finished by a small family workshop in Bali.

This colourway is a deep, earthy brown.

  • Dress: a floor-length dress with a flattering back-tie
  • Hand-loomed in East Java over approx. two months, then hand-stitched in Bali by a small family of tailors
  • Embrace the beauty of hand dyes: subtle variations in colour make your piece one of a kind
  • Fabric: 100% handwoven Javanese Ikat cotton
  • Colour: Brown

Due to the hand-made nature of our garments, we recommend you hand wash HAYAQI garments in cold water only, and wash separately by color to avoid color bleeding. We recommend you lay your garment flat to dry, away from the sun. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Learn more here.
